Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has interpreted the outcome of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election as a strong indicator of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf highlighted the large voter turnout and peaceful conduct of the poll as evidence of continued strong support for the APC and its policies in the state.
The governor described the election as free, fair, and credible, saying it accurately reflected the wishes of the electorate. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its effective organization of the exercise and praised security agencies for ensuring peace throughout the process.
According to Yusuf, the successful conduct and result of the by-election have further boosted public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions. He congratulated the victorious APC candidate and urged him to prioritize quality representation for the people of the constituency.
The governor asserted that the outcome confirms the APC’s enduring strength in Kano State and its readiness for greater electoral victories in the future.
Yusuf took particular aim at the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), which fielded no candidate in the by-election. He described the party as “a mushroom political movement with no visible grassroots structure,” arguing that its absence stemmed from fear of defeat and a lack of genuine support to challenge the APC.
He maintained that the by-election laid bare the weaknesses of opposition parties in the state while underscoring the APC’s growing acceptance among residents of Kano.
Governor Yusuf reassured the people that his administration remains committed to implementing people-oriented projects and programmes to improve their welfare.
He also extended congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC National Chairman Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda on the party’s performance in recent by-elections nationwide.
