Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s media aide, Paul Ibe, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to invite Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho to reveal the identities of those allegedly behind the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a post on X, Ibe said if Igboho truly possesses information about the kidnappers, security agencies should engage him to aid efforts to secure the victims’ release.
His remarks follow Igboho’s claim, made while addressing members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), that he knows politicians responsible for the abductions and would expose them if they fail to desist.
Reacting, Ibe stressed that all options must be explored to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted children and teachers.
He also questioned the federal government’s silence over the May 15, 2026 abduction of more than 50 schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State, contrasting it with the attention given to the Oyo incident.
“Since Sunday Igboho claims to know those behind the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, I think the DSS and other security agencies should invite him to release those names. Every option should be on the table to fast-track the safe release of the school children and teachers,” Ibe wrote.
He further asked why President Bola Tinubu’s administration has not dispatched a delegation to Borno or deployed forest guards there, as it did in Oyo, insisting that all Nigerian children deserve equal protection.
