Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has extended an olive branch to bandits terrorising parts of the state, saying the door for dialogue, repentance, and reintegration remains open.
The governor made the call on Thursday, June 11, 2026, while handing over 152 newly built houses to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Jibia Local Government Area.
Radda urged the bandits to abandon violence, lay down their weapons, embrace dialogue, and return to peaceful coexistence so that development can thrive in the state.
“The doors for dialogue, repentance and reintegration remain open to you,” the governor said.
He emphasised that the state government is ready to support repentant bandits who choose peace over crime, while commending the relative calm currently being enjoyed in some frontline communities.
The event also featured the commissioning of additional infrastructure, including Climate Peace Hubs and solar mini-grids aimed at addressing resource-based conflicts and supporting community resilience.
Governor Radda’s latest position marks a softening from his earlier hardline stance against negotiating with bandits, as part of broader efforts to restore lasting peace and enable displaced residents to return to their communities.
