EFCC Questions Prophet Over Alleged N70.3m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into a self-acclaimed prophet, Godwin Sunday Ajuluchukwucheya, popularly known as Prophet Sunday Koboko, over allegations that he defrauded members of his ministry of N70.39 million.

In a statement released via its official X handle, the EFCC confirmed that operatives of its Enugu Zonal Directorate are probing claims that the cleric collected large sums from worshippers through promises of spiritual interventions and investment opportunities.

One petitioner, Okey Uwakwe, alleged that Ajuluchukwucheya received N6.23 million to perform spiritual works aimed at persuading his brother abroad to return to Nigeria, and another N3.25 million to help his sister-in-law conceive after 15 years of childlessness.

He further claimed the prophet convinced members to contribute to a supposed N33 billion lottery win and a rice-processing business allegedly worth N1 billion.

According to EFCC, Uwakwe alone paid a total of N13.33 million without receiving any benefit. Other church members also came forward, accusing the suspect of selling items such as “holy ghost thunder,” “miracle stickers,” and “spiritual dragons,” which he claimed would bring prosperity and solutions to personal challenges.

The commission stated that the total amount allegedly collected stood at N70.39 million. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court once concluded.
