EFCC Arraigns Influencer Blessing CEO Over Alleged N13m Medical Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday arraigned popular social media influencer and self-styled relationship therapist, Blessing Okoro (also known as Blessing CEO), before Justice Yellim Bogoro of the Federal High Court in Lagos on a fresh six-count charge.

Okoro faces allegations of obtaining money by false pretence, forgery, possession of false documents, fraudulent conversion, and retention of proceeds of unlawful activities totaling N13 million.

According to the EFCC, the influencer allegedly solicited funds from the public by claiming she had been diagnosed with a terminal illness, including a left breast lump and invasive ductal carcinoma.

She is accused of forging a “Histopathology/Cytopathology Report” purportedly from Xinus Medical Diagnostics to support her claims and deceive donors.

The commission further alleged that she converted the donated funds for personal use and retained them in her bank account, knowing they were proceeds of crime.

Okoro pleaded not guilty to all counts. Her counsel, Stanley Ofoegbu, attempted an oral bail application, but Justice Bogoro rejected it, noting that no formal application had been filed.

The judge ordered her remand at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos, and adjourned the case to September 24, 2026, for trial.

This latest arraignment comes shortly after Okoro was granted bail in a separate N36 million fraud case and faced another charge involving an alleged N69.15 million fraud against a health clinic.

The case continues to draw attention due to Okoro’s significant social media following.
