The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has announced that the party’s internal disputes have been settled after high-level consultations with key figures, including presidential candidate Peter Obi and Professor Pat Utomi.
Dickson revealed in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account that the resolution came after a three-hour meeting of party leaders, which reviewed grievances stemming from the conduct of the party’s primaries.
The NDC had faced accusations of irregularities during its primaries, with Dickson previously admitting the process was not flawless.
Tensions escalated earlier this week when Obi’s running mate, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, alleged that candidates aligned with his Kwankwasiyya Movement were replaced to enforce a 60/40 power-sharing deal.
Unconfirmed reports suggested Kwankwaso even considered leaving the party. However, Dickson stressed that all issues were amicably resolved, emphasizing unity and focus on the broader mission of defeating the APC-led government.
“We have always been on the same page on the bigger picture winning elections and rescuing Nigeria. A few issues arose, but we have agreed on how to handle them moving forward,” Dickson stated.
He urged members to end bickering and concentrate on strengthening cohesion. “Both Peter Obi and I, alongside other leaders, will continue to consult and engage to ensure unity and focus on building a better future for Nigeria,” he added.
