Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Ex-Minister Uche Nnaji Over Alleged Certificate Forgery

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has obtained a court-ordered warrant for the arrest of former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, over allegations of forging academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates.

A Federal High Court in Abuja granted the warrant on Thursday, June 12, 2026, following an ex parte motion filed by the ICPC in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1160/2026.

Nnaji, who was appointed minister by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023, resigned from office after the certificate forgery allegations surfaced during his ministerial screening and confirmation process.

ICPC counsel Osuobeni Akponimisingha told the court that Nnaji repeatedly refused to honour invitations extended by the commission for investigation.

The anti-graft agency therefore sought an order to declare him wanted through national newspapers, social media, and other platforms, as well as a bench warrant for his immediate arrest by ICPC operatives or any law enforcement agent.

The court granted all the prayers of the commission. The arrest warrant will remain in force until Nnaji is arrested and handed over to the ICPC.

Nnaji recently emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Enugu State in the 2027 general elections.
