The first batch of Nigerians repatriated from South Africa following the latest wave of xenophobic violence has arrived in Lagos.
A total of 268 returnees landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday aboard an Air Peace flight.
The repatriation marks the beginning of Nigeria’s efforts to evacuate citizens affected by the attacks, which have sparked widespread concern and diplomatic engagement between both countries.
Authorities confirmed that more flights are expected in the coming days to bring home additional Nigerians seeking to leave South Africa.
