Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic train accident along the Warri–Itakpe railway corridor near Agbor, Delta State, which claimed lives and left several passengers injured.
In a statement shared on X, Atiku offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the recovery of those receiving treatment.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives. I also pray for the speedy recovery of those receiving treatment and wish them strength in this difficult time,” he said.
Atiku also sympathised with the people and government of Delta State, commending the swift response of emergency workers.
He described the accident as a reminder of the urgent need to strengthen transportation safety standards and improve emergency preparedness nationwide.
He prayed for eternal rest for the deceased, comfort for their families, and healing for the injured.
