The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday inaugurated its national campaign council for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, with top party leaders in attendance to back Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid.
The inauguration took place at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (who is also Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum) were among the prominent figures present.
The campaign council is chaired by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, with Senate President Akpabio serving as co-chairman and Senator Opeyemi Bamidele as secretary.
In a statement after the event, Governor Dapo Abiodun described the inauguration as “another significant step in our collective resolve to consolidate the gains of progressive governance and ensure electoral success for our party in Ekiti State.”
Abiodun reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting good governance, and advancing the welfare of the people.
“We commend the national working committee of our party for its dedication to a credible and coordinated campaign process,” he said, expressing confidence that the APC will secure victory in the Ekiti governorship election.
He praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for delivering impactful governance and meaningful development to the people of Ekiti State.
The event is part of the APC’s efforts to mobilise support and align strategies ahead of the off-cycle governorship poll in Ekiti.
