Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has pledged that the state will deliver 95 percent of its votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, insisting the president deserves a second term in recognition of his economic reforms.
Speaking at a strategic All Progressives Congress (APC) meeting held at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, Abiodun praised Tinubu’s policies for repositioning Nigeria’s economy and laying the groundwork for sustainable growth.
He commended Ogun APC members for conducting peaceful and transparent primaries, describing the process as a model of unity and maturity.
According to him, aspirants who stepped down for party unity were “unsung heroes” of the exercise.
On the choice of a deputy governor for the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, Abiodun revealed that the position has been zoned to Ogun East Senatorial District, specifically the Ijebu axis, since Adeola hails from Ogun West.
He noted that consultations had narrowed the choice further to the Ijebu-Ode Federal Constituency.
The governor congratulated Ogun West for producing the APC governorship candidate, breaking a 50-year jinx in the state’s political history.
He described the development as proof of the party’s commitment to fairness and inclusiveness.
Abiodun also pledged to strengthen security through technology-driven solutions against banditry and kidnapping, while shifting focus toward human capital development and social investment programs to cushion economic challenges.
APC State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, lauded members for their discipline during the primaries and said the meeting was aimed at strategizing for victory in 2027.
