2027: North Will Vote Tinubu to Boost 2031 Chances – Ex-ACF Scribe, Anthony Sani

Former Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Anthony Sani, has said the North will rally behind President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections to strengthen its chances of reclaiming the presidency in 2031.

Speaking with Daily Post, Sani explained that the North views Tinubu’s second term bid as a strategic step, since the presidency is expected to rotate back to the region after eight years in the South.

“President Bola Tinubu will get the majority votes in the North because the North is hoping to produce the President in 2031 after it has been in the South for eight years,” he said.

Sani also predicted that the South-East would overwhelmingly support Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Peter Obi, citing the politics of zoning and identity.

“Politics of identity called zoning would not allow Igbos to vote against Peter Obi in 2027. This is because this time the President is in the South and is expected to be in the North by 2031,” he noted.

However, he dismissed Obi’s chances in the North, arguing that the region does not trust his pledge to serve only one term.

He added that many in the North fear Obi could preside over instability, likening him to Mikhail Gorbachev, because of his perceived silence on IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu.
