The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has clarified that its 2027 presidential candidate, Donald Duke, fulfilled all requirements to emerge as the party’s flag bearer.
National Chairman of the PRP, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, made the statement during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday.
He explained that the former Cross River State governor formally applied to join the party and underwent the same screening process as other aspirants.
Baba-Ahmed noted that Duke participated in the consensus-building exercise, which involved three southern candidates, even though he was abroad at the time.
“Being absent physically is not in breach of rules or regulations. He joined the meeting online, interacted with the other aspirants, and consented to the process. That is good enough for the party and for the other contestants,” Baba-Ahmed said.
He stressed that Duke’s compliance with all procedures demonstrated his eligibility, adding that the PRP remains committed to transparency and fairness in its internal processes.
