Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering dedication to strengthening security and accelerating the resettlement of communities displaced by years of insurgency.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum, who is currently in Saudi Arabia observing the lesser Hajj assured residents of continued collaboration with security agencies and local volunteer groups to maintain peace across the state.
While extending Eid-el-Kabir greetings, the governor urged Muslims to embody the values of sacrifice, tolerance, compassion, and peaceful coexistence during the celebration.
He also called for greater support for vulnerable members of society.Zulum pledged to intensify efforts towards the safe return and resettlement of more displaced communities, alongside sustained economic empowerment programmes for vulnerable residents.
He promised that additional communities would be resettled before the end of his administration.
“We will continue to work closely with the military and other security agencies, as well as volunteer forces, to ensure peace and tranquillity in our communities,” the governor stated.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to completing key developmental projects across Borno before his tenure expires.
Zulum also commended members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for conducting peaceful primary elections in the state and called on Nigerians to pray for enduring peace in Borno and the country at large.
