Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has threatened to seal off any building or bank used by the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Turaki as its headquarters or operational base.
The warning was issued during Wike’s monthly media chat on Wednesday, amid the escalating leadership crisis in the PDP. On May 4, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde appointed Turaki as chairman of a 13-member interim National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
Turaki had earlier claimed leadership of the party following a Supreme Court ruling that nullified the national convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025.Speaking on the development, Wike challenged the Turaki-led group to prove its legitimacy by operating transparently.
“When will people stop being fraudulent? You cannot disobey court judgments and then turn around to deceive Nigerians that you have a legitimate structure. That is not how democracy works,” the minister said.Wike dared the faction to open an official PDP bank account for collecting nomination fees, warning that any bank that cooperates with them would face serious consequences.
“Let Turaki, as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, open an account for the PDP. Let them announce it publicly... That day, you will see what will happen. He will lose his silk,” he added. The FCT Minister further declared that he would not tolerate any illegal parallel secretariat in Abuja.
“If anybody goes ahead to open an illegal office in the name of the PDP in Abuja, I will seal it... I will seal off any house that allows them to use it as the PDP headquarters. Any bank that allows them to open an account for the sale of nomination forms will be in trouble.”
Wike insisted that only the authentic leadership of the PDP, backed by proper documentation and certificate of incorporation, should be recognised for official transactions. The fresh threat highlights the deep divisions within the PDP as rival factions continue to battle for control of the party’s national structure.
