We don't have twins - Adekunle Gold debunks rumours

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has debunked reports that his wife, singer Simi, gave birth to twins, saying the couple welcomed a baby boy.

The singer made the clarification in an interview on Great Day Houston, a morning show on KHOU 11 television in Houston, Texas, which was uploaded on YouTube on Thursday

When the host mentioned that the couple had “welcomed twins in early March,” Gold was quick to correct the claim.

“Not even twins. That’s the internet, by the way. We have a son,” he said.

Gold, who has a six-year-old daughter with Simi, said he found it rewarding to be married to a fellow musician.

“It’s interesting to be married to another fantastic songwriter. We bounce off ideas in the home,” he said.

He added that their daughter was already showing musical inclinations.

The interview also touched on his musical career and new album, Fuji Xtra, which he confirmed dropped the same night as the interview.

Gold, who leads the band the 79th Element, the atomic number 79 representing gold, described his current sound as electrofuji, a high-energy, percussion-based style that blends traditional fuji music with contemporary production.

The twins’ narrative had been widely reported across Nigerian and international entertainment outlets since January, after the singer posted a cryptic message on his Snapchat story.

In the post, he wrote: “Asked God for another child and He blessed me double,” and accompanied it with a photo of two baby outfits captioned “Double Trouble.”
