Primate Elijah Ayodele, Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan to tread carefully with any presidential ambition for the 2027 general election, warning that it could tarnish his hard-earned reputation.
The caution comes shortly after a political group approached Jonathan on Thursday, urging him to contest in the 2027 presidential race.
In a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele acknowledged that Jonathan’s entry into the race would significantly shake up the political landscape and pose a strong challenge to incumbent President Bola Tinubu and other contenders.
“Former President Goodluck Jonathan will be good on the ballot, but his prestigious image may be stained,” the renowned prophet stated. “If truly he wants to contest, it will be tough for every candidate, including President Tinubu, but he must be very careful.”
Ayodele described Jonathan as currently being afraid and indecisive about the move. He urged the former president to summon courage if he decides to run, noting that the journey would not be easy.
“Jonathan’s candidacy will shock a lot of people, but he is scared. He must be courageous because the journey isn’t for the faint-hearted. If that is what he wants to do, he must be brave; it will not be an easy thing for him,” the cleric added.
The Primate further predicted that Jonathan would attract international backing and sponsors should he throw his hat into the ring, but stressed that the path to victory would still be extremely difficult.
This latest prophecy adds to several earlier statements by Primate Ayodele on the potential role Jonathan could play in the 2027 presidential contest.
