US Lawmaker Warns Terrorists in Nigeria: Do Not Test Trump’s Resolve

A senior US congressman has issued a stern warning to terrorists operating in Nigeria, crediting President Donald Trump with the recent joint US-Nigerian operation that eliminated a top ISIS commander.

Rep. Riley Moore (Republican), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, said President Trump is “laser focused” on protecting Christians in Nigeria from radical Islamist violence.

He made the remarks during an interview on NewsNation and in a follow-up post on X on Monday.

Moore linked the strike that killed Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, described as ISIS’s second-in-command globally  directly to Trump’s orders. Al-Minuki was a high-value target with a long history in Boko Haram and ISIS West Africa Province (ISWAP), including involvement in weapons manufacturing, drone development, and the 2018 Dapchi schoolgirls kidnapping.

“Do not test President Trump’s resolve,” Moore declared. “The strike on Abu-Bilal al-Minuki sends a clear message: those who target innocent Christians will be hunted down and brought to justice.”

The lawmaker revealed that Trump had personally tasked him with investigating the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. Moore visited the country with colleagues and submitted recommendations to the White House.

He noted that Trump designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern on October 31 last year, intensifying US engagement.

The Defence Headquarters in Nigeria confirmed that al-Minuki was killed in a “meticulously planned and highly coordinated” precision strike in the Lake Chad Basin, part of operations that also neutralised over 20 ISIS fighters.

Moore emphasised that the issue resonates deeply with many Americans, describing it as something “near and dear to a lot of people’s hearts.”

This latest development underscores the Trump administration’s hardline stance against terrorist groups targeting religious communities in Nigeria, with further US-Nigerian security cooperation expected.
