Uba Sani Launches DDR Peace, Security Committee to Safeguard Lives, Property

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has inaugurated the Kaduna State Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Peace and Security Committee as part of his administration’s sustained efforts to protect lives, property, and critical national assets in the state.

In a statement on his verified Facebook page, Governor Sani described the inauguration as a major milestone in consolidating peace and building sustainable security across Kaduna State.

He emphasized that the state is serving as the pilot for this important national peace and security initiative, highlighting confidence in Kaduna’s security framework.

The governor noted that his administration has adopted a balanced “Kaduna Peace Model” that combines kinetic (military) operations with non-kinetic interventions.

He explained that insecurity often stems not only from criminality but also from underlying issues such as poverty, exclusion, and limited economic opportunities.

Through close collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, the National Counter Terrorism Centre, the Armed Forces, and other security agencies, the state has achieved measurable progress in tackling these challenges, according to the governor.

The new DDR Committee is expected to play a key role in disarmament, demobilisation, and reintegration efforts aimed at reducing violence and promoting lasting peace in Kaduna State.
