Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on emerging as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He described the outcome as a reflection of the confidence party members continue to place in his leadership.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Sanwo-Olu said Tinubu’s victory in the APC primaries was “well deserved.”
He also praised party members and officials for conducting what he described as peaceful and well-organised elections across the country.
The statement, signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, commended the APC’s National Working Committee and state executives for ensuring a smooth exercise.
“I congratulate our leader and President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2027 election.
“This victory reflects the confidence and trust that party members across the country continue to place in his leadership and his commitment to building a better Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The Lagos governor also highlighted the APC’s adoption of direct primaries, saying the process underscored the party’s commitment to internal democracy.
“The adoption of direct primaries also demonstrates our party’s commitment to strengthening internal democracy by giving members a stronger voice in the selection process,” he stated.
Sanwo-Olu further praised Tinubu’s economic reforms and leadership style, saying the administration had taken difficult but necessary decisions to stabilise Nigeria’s economy and position the country for long-term growth.
“Over the last few years, President Tinubu has taken important decisions aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the foundation for long-term growth.
“At critical moments, leadership requires courage and the willingness to take decisions that will move the country forward,” the governor said.
Expressing optimism about the future, Sanwo-Olu added: “I am confident that Nigerians will continue to support a vision built on courage and sustainable progress.
“The journey continues, and together, we will keep working towards a nation that gives every citizen a fair opportunity to succeed.”
The APC presidential primaries are part of the ruling party’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It took place on Saturday with the result announced on Sunday disclosing that Tinubu polled over 10 million votes to beat his closest challenger Stanley Osifo.
