Tinubu Has Unlocked Full Potential of Economy, Nigeria now Attractive to Foreign Investors- Shettima

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms have significantly improved Nigeria’s appeal to foreign investors, positioning the country as a more competitive destination for international business.

Shettima made the remarks on Thursday during a bilateral meeting with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“Since assumption of office over two years ago, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unlocked the full potentials of the Nigerian economy,” Shettima said.

He highlighted key reforms implemented by the administration, including the liberalisation of the foreign exchange market, removal of subsidy on petroleum products, and harmonisation of tax laws to prevent over-taxation of companies operating in Nigeria.

These measures, according to the Vice-President, have created fresh opportunities for deeper economic cooperation between Nigeria and Poland in strategic sectors.Shettima identified defence cooperation, digital economy, agriculture, maritime development, and shipbuilding as priority areas where both nations can strengthen ties. He praised Poland’s strong industrial capacity in sectors critical to Nigeria’s development.

“There is room for enhanced mutually beneficial business relations between Nigeria and Poland,” he added. “We believe in a truly beneficial relationship rather than reliance on any country for aid.”Shettima further described Poland as one of Europe’s most progressive and strategic countries, expressing strong optimism about the future of bilateral relations.

Poland’s PerspectiveSpeaking earlier, Gawkowski described Nigeria as Poland’s most strategic partner in Africa, citing the country’s vast demographic strength and growing technological potential. He said the visit would open a new chapter in cooperation between the two nations, particularly in innovation, digitisation, and economic development.

“Nigeria is a country with enormous demographic and technological potential,” Gawkowski stated, adding that the engagement would create “new momentum” for long-term collaboration between Warsaw and Abuja.
