Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has sharply disagreed with the Presidency’s assertion that President Bola Tinubu “took bullets” for Nigeria’s survival.
The response came after Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, claimed the President endured bullets and hardship to become president and steer the country.
In a statement posted on X on Friday, Ibe dismissed the claim, accusing President Tinubu of being responsible for the nation’s current challenges.
“He did not take the bullet for ‘Nigeria to survive’ whatever that means,” Ibe wrote. “It is clear even to the blind that Tinubu actually pulled the trigger that is killing Nigeria and its people.”
Ibe blamed the President’s administration for what he described as “legendary incompetence and cluelessness” over the past three years, which he said has worsened insecurity, hunger, multidimensional poverty, and deepened national divisions.
“The countdown to the retirement of Tinubu to Iragbiji his hometown or Lagos his adopted home has begun,” he added.
