The Chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash O. Amupitan, SAN, has joined the International Election Observation Programme (IEOP) for the Republic of Korea’s Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections.
The programme, which runs from May 29 to June 5, 2026, in Seoul, has brought together senior officials from various election management bodies, electoral experts, and international observers to witness the conduct of the local government elections and share insights on global best practices in electoral administration.
Prof. Amupitan was accompanied by National Commissioner Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, Chief Technical Adviser to the Chairman, Prof. Dimis Mai-Lafia, and Director of Training, Dr. Binta Kasim Mohammed.
According to INEC, the delegation’s participation is part of efforts to deepen the Commission’s knowledge of emerging trends, innovative approaches, and international standards in election management, observation, and governance.
