President Bola Tinubu has stressed that no leader can tackle security challenges in isolation, declaring that even the most powerful nations and individuals must seek collaboration.
Speaking on Thursday at the African CEO Forum in Rwanda, Tinubu made the remark while responding to a question on managing security partnerships involving America and France.
According to the President, United States President Donald Trump, despite his strong and independent posture, is currently engaging China on the Taiwan issue.
“Security challenges will always be there. Those are things you cannot do alone. You can’t operate the world in isolation. Even Trump, as bold as he is, is in China talking about Taiwan. So, who am I in Nigeria to say I will do it alone?” Tinubu said.
He emphasised the need for pragmatic collaboration with neighbouring countries and international partners to effectively secure lives and property.
“I must embrace my neighbours. I must pursue pragmatic collaboration and partnership, which is very necessary to assist and make progress and enhance the security of life and properties of the people,” the President added.
The statement underscores Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to regional and international cooperation in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
