The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has commenced construction of the FHA Gateway Estate in Ofada, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, as part of President Bola Tinubu’s directive to tackle the nation’s housing deficit.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the estate was performed on Wednesday by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the FHA, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ojo said the project, which will deliver 95 units of 2-bedroom houses and 100 units of 3-bedroom terrace duplexes, brings the total to 195 housing units being added to the national housing stock.
He described the development as a fulfilment of the explicit mandate given to the FHA management by President Tinubu upon their appointment.
The project is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the FHA, Greenpasture Homes Ltd, and Akkenog International Company Ltd.
Ojo emphasised that the Authority is leveraging such partnerships to extend housing delivery across the country, noting that the housing challenge cannot be solved by government alone.
The FHA boss commended President Tinubu’s commitment to the housing sector, particularly the reconstruction of the Sagamu-Owode road which traverses the estate, saying it has significantly enhanced the project’s value.
FHA’s Executive Director of Estate Services, Arc. Ezekiel Nya Etok, and General Manager of Partnerships, Arc. Peter Okpanachi, also praised the current administration’s efforts in the housing sector and assured that the estate would offer a serene, safe, and comfortable living environment.
Partners from Greenpasture Homes and Akkenog International pledged their full commitment to delivering a quality project on schedule, expressing confidence in the success of the collaboration with the FHA.
The development underscores the Tinubu administration’s renewed push to address Nigeria’s housing needs through strategic partnerships and infrastructure support.
