Three Boko Haram Family Members Surrender to Troops in Borno

Troops of the 192 Battalion (Motorised) under Operation HADIN KAI have received three escaped family members of suspected Boko Haram terrorists who surrendered along the Gwoza–Limankara road in Borno State.

The escapees, identified as Fadimatu Ibrahim, 30; Abubakar Kumude, 12; and Ummi Ibrahim, 2, turned themselves in to soldiers on picket duty around 11:55 a.m. on Sunday.

Security sources said the trio fled from the Kimbe terrorist enclave located in the Mandara Mountains within Gwoza Local Government Area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the family members escaped due to sustained military pressure on the terrorists’ hideouts and severe hardship, including lack of basic necessities inside the camp.

The surrendered individuals have been properly screened, documented, and placed in the custody of the battalion for further processing according to standard procedures.
