The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately investigate the alleged diversion of over N800 billion from FAAC (Federation Account Allocation Committee) disbursements to fund political campaigns.
SERAP described the reported diversion of public funds as a serious breach of the law and a threat to Nigeria’s electoral process.
The group urged INEC to probe the matter thoroughly, identify those involved, recover any misappropriated funds, and ensure strict compliance with campaign finance regulations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The allegation of massive diversion from federal allocations has sparked widespread concern, with critics arguing it undermines transparency and public trust in governance.
SERAP has consistently pushed for accountability in the management of public resources and electoral integrity.
