The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that the ongoing remodelling of the Abuja City Gate was initiated on the advice of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Wike made the revelation on Monday during an inspection tour of several key infrastructure projects in the FCT, ahead of their formal inauguration in June to mark the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The projects inspected include the Renewed Hope City Access Road in Karsana District, the rehabilitation of Old Keffi Road, FCT Highway 105 (Airport Road to Kuje), Phase 1 of the Kuje to Gwagwalada Road, and the City Gate remodelling project.
Expressing satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, Wike praised the City Gate facelift as the visionary idea of the First Lady.
“This is what you have when you have a good woman who means well for the administration of her husband. I am talking about the first lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu,” Wike said.
He added that the project, executed by Julius Berger, would significantly transform the entrance into Nigeria’s capital, especially at night.
