The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially declared three incumbent Senators from Zamfara State as winners of their respective senatorial primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The confirmed flag-bearers are Senator Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara West), Senator Ikra Bilbis (Zamfara Central), and Senator Sahabi Ya’u (Zamfara North). The trio currently represent these districts in the 10th National Assembly.
Chairman of the APC Senatorial Primary Election Committee for Zamfara State, Prof. Ishaq Bala, announced the results after the primaries held on May 19, 2026.
According to the results:
Zamfara Central: A total of 136,419 votes were cast. Senator Ikra Bilbis polled 127,686 votes to defeat Lubna Muhammad (140 votes) and Aliyu Akilu-Muhammad (8,593 votes).
Zamfara West: 125,311 votes were cast. Senator Abdulaziz Yari won overwhelmingly with 125,235 votes, while his only opponent, Nasiru Zarumi, scored 76 votes.
Zamfara North: Senator Sahabi Ya’u emerged victorious with 65,642 votes, defeating other aspirants including Hannafi Musa-Moriki, Sani Abdullahi-Shinkafi, and Tijjani Yahaya.
Prof. Bala described the primaries as transparent, peaceful, and free of violence or major disputes.
He commended party members, stakeholders, the media, and the Zamfara State Government for creating a conducive atmosphere for the exercise.
He urged any aggrieved aspirants to channel their complaints to the party’s appeal committee, scheduled to sit on May 28, 2026, in Gusau.
The announcement reaffirms the APC’s commitment to internal democracy as the party gears up for the 2027 polls..
