Police Arrest Suspected 'One Chance' Gang Members in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected one-chance operators, Odunuga Kehinde and Olajide Rasak, in the Obantoko area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Oluseyi said the arrest followed a distress report about a robbery incident involving a woman and her sisters, prompting immediate police action.

He said, “Operatives of Obantoko Division acted swiftly on May 28, 2026, at about 5:15 p.m., following a distress call received from members of the public reporting a robbery incident involving a female victim and her two sisters.

“The victims were said to have boarded a Nissan Micra taxi painted in Ogun State colours from the Somorin area en route to NNPC Kuto, where they intended to connect with another vehicle to Lagos after attending a wedding anniversary in the area.

“However, at the OLG Somorin axis, the occupants of the vehicle allegedly diverted from the agreed destination, became unruly, and forcefully ejected the passengers. Immediately after disembarking, the complainant discovered that her iPhone 12 Pro had been stolen.”

The police spokesperson noted that operatives mobilised to the scene and arrested the suspects while recovering the stolen phone.

“Upon receiving the distress alert, operatives of Obantoko Division, in collaboration with members of the public, swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested two suspects identified as Odunuga Kehinde and Olajide Rasak. The timely intervention of the police prevented possible mob action by agitated members of the public.

“The stolen iPhone 12 Pro was recovered from the suspects, while the alleged operational vehicle reportedly fled the scene,” Oluseyi added.

He added that the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime during interrogation.

“Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime during interrogation.

“Photographs of the suspects were taken for record purposes, and the recovered exhibit was released to the owner on bond,” the statement added.
