Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi, an aspirant for the Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency seat on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, has alleged serious irregularities in the party’s primary election and called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene.
Speaking at a press briefing in Ondo on Sunday, Fajemirokun-Ajayi claimed that her agents reported incidents of voter suppression, disruption of voting lines, absence of electoral officials in some wards, and attempts to compromise the collation process.
“Democracy cannot survive where intimidation replaces fairness,” she said. “We call on President Tinubu and the APC national leadership to protect ordinary party members, women, youths and minority voices from political bullying and suppression.”
The aspirant stated that she remains with her supporters to safeguard the votes cast, pending the official announcement of results. She claimed to have secured victory with 4,247 votes, ahead of Matthew Oyerinmade with 1,790 votes and Festus Adefiranye with 788 votes.
She also claimed strong support in several wards, including Agbabu, Ago-Alaye, Ajue, Araromi Obu, Ebijaw, Koseru, Odigbo, Ore I and Ore II.
Fajemirokun-Ajayi alleged that some individuals linked to the Ondo State Government were involved in actions that undermined the credibility of the exercise. However, she expressed confidence that the state governor and President Tinubu would ensure a fair outcome.
“We trust that the number one citizen of this state will ensure that the voices of party members are respected. We also trust our father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to uphold credible primaries across the country,” she said.
The aspirant further outlined plans to empower youths and small businesses in the constituency, revealing that over N100 million had been earmarked for grants to support young people and entrepreneurs.
The APC is yet to announce the official results of the primary for the constituency.
