The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has alleged that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s departure from the party was not spontaneous but a well-planned move.
Abdullahi made the claim while speaking on Arise News Prime Time on Monday. He insisted that the ADC remains a party with clear direction and strong structure, accusing some politicians of merely using it to advance personal ambitions.
“We have been fighting for democracy within a party that has given us the best chance to serve the Nigerian people,” Abdullahi said, while questioning what suddenly changed for Obi.
He recalled that Obi had previously warned at a coalition meeting that fielding two candidates against President Bola Tinubu in 2027 would hand victory to the incumbent.
Abdullahi dismissed claims that internal court cases forced their exit, noting that the issues were minor and could not justify leaving.
He added that Obi received special privileges in the party, including nominating the National Organising Secretary.
He likened Obi’s reasons for leaving to “a woman who wants to leave a marriage and gives all kinds of excuses.”
Abdullahi also pointed to a meeting in Kano involving Obi, Kwankwaso, and Seriake Dickson as possible evidence that the move had been premeditated.
