NSCDC arrests three for vandalism, tricycle theft in Kano

 

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command have arrested two suspects for vandalising and stealing 300 metres of aluminium conductor cable at Yunfawa village in DawakinTofa Local Government Area of the state.


Similarly, the Corps also arrested a suspected tricycle thief, Abdullahi Aminu,18, a resident of Unguwar Dabai, Dala Local Government, Kano State.


The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement on Friday.


“Two of the suspects, Adamu Ibrahim, 25, and Abba Ado, 24, all residents of Roba, Dawakin Tofa LG area, were apprehended shortly after vandalizing and stealing 300 metres of aluminium conductor cables at Yunfawa, Dawakin Tofa local government of Kano State.


“On Tuesday 28th April, 2026 by 0800hrs, the duo stormed Yunfawa village climbed up electric poles in the area and vandalized KEDCO’s 300metre conductor cables,” the statement said.


Abdullahi added that the duo were in the process of taking the cable away when they were intercepted and arrested by security agents and later brought to the NSCDC office in the area.


Abdullahi said, “After being interrogated at the corps state headquarters in Kano, the two suspects confessed to have committed the offence, with one accomplice now at large.


Meanwhile , personnel of the corps on routine patrol duty along Kofar waika/ Kofar Dawanau dual carriageway arrested the suspected tricycle thief, Abdullahi Aminu,18, a resident of Unguwar Dabai, Dala local government, Kano State.


“The suspect, in broad daylight on Wednesday 6th May, 2026 forcefully got on to a parked tricycle by the road side with a female passenger on board, while the rider was a little distance away delivering a despatch.


“The suspect just zoomed off with the female passenger on board driving recklessly. Fortunately, after a loud call for help, our personnel from Dala division on routine patrol duty rescued her and instantly arrested the suspect.


The two suspected vandals and the tricycle thief who are now in custody will be charged to court for appropriate prosecution.


Recall that in April, the NSCDC, Nasarawa State Command, arrested two suspected vandals in the state.


The suspects were apprehended at the crime scene following a credible information, of their ongoing illegal activities in the area.
