North Obliged to Support Tinubu’s Second Term – Doguwa

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Downstream Petroleum, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has called on Northern Nigerians to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, describing it as a moral and reciprocal obligation.

In a statement signed and issued to journalists in Kano on Wednesday, Doguwa, who also serves as Chairman of the Northern Caucus in the House of Representatives, argued that the North should reciprocate the support the South gave to the late President Muhammadu Buhari during his eight-year tenure.

“Voting for President Tinubu again by the North is a fulfilment of what is just, fair and honest, just like what the South did to us through late President Muhammadu Buhari; therefore, I expect an overwhelming number of votes for Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

Doguwa emphasised that the South played a significant role in ensuring Buhari completed his two terms, adding that it is now the North’s turn to reciprocate the gesture to Tinubu.

He stated that the region has no reason not to support the President’s re-election bid.

The lawmaker also appealed to his constituents in Tudun Wada/Doguwa who had left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to return to the party, assuring them of renewed development and progress.

“I don’t hold grudges against anybody in my federal constituency; I see everyone as a family member... so we should come together and work for the good of our areas rather than fighting unnecessarily,” he added.

Doguwa commended Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his peaceful and progressive leadership and called for unity among APC members and returnees to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
