Governor of Plateau, Caleb Mutfwang, has dismissed
allegations that he imposed some aspirants during the All Progressives
Congress, APC, senatorial primary elections.
Describing the allegations as baseless and “lies from the
pit of hell”, the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, DOPA, Gyang
Bere, said Mutfwang has never imposed aspirants and candidates in any election
and will not start now as he has been known for fair play and democratic
disposition even when he was in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In a statement on Tuesday debunking the allegations, Bere
urged the general public to disregard the rumours which he said do not reflect
the Governor’s peaceful and democratic disposition as well as his consistent
call for free, fair, and credible elections across Plateau State.
“The Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang
has never imposed any political aspirant or candidate against the wishes of the
people and will not start now,” Bere said.
“We urge members of the public and party faithful to
disregard the fabricated statement in its entirety.
“The Governor has always enjoined party faithful to adhere
strictly to the principles of peaceful conduct throughout the electoral
process, stressing that the peace, unity, and stability of Plateau remain the
utmost priority of his administration.
“The Governor has described the reports as fabricated,
false, and misleading. The state government urges the public and party faithful
to disregard the claims entirely as Governor Mutfwang has always reiterated his
long-standing position for free, fair, and credible electoral processes across
Plateau State,” the statement stressed.
