Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has been officially declared winner
of the Adamawa North senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The returning officer of the APC primary election for
Adamawa North Senatorial District, Mr Wilfred William disclosed this at the end
of the collation in Mubi-North Local Government Area on Tuesday, explaining
that the election was conducted across the five LGAs in the zone, namely
Madagali, Maiha, Michika, Mubi North and Mubi South.
The returning officer announced that, “The total number of
votes for the five LGAs is 292,070, accredited votes is 174,514, votes cast is
174,514. The following votes are scored by each aspirant: Abdulrahaman Kwacham
– 6,958 votes; Ahmadu Fintiri – 160,579 votes and Hamisu Medugu 6,977.”
He concluded that Fintiri, having scored the highest number
of votes, is declared winner and returned elected for the Adamawa Northern
Senatorial District.”
Fintiri’s immediate past Commissioner of Health, Dr Felix
Tangwami, had earlier in the day been announced as winner of the Adamawa South
senatorial zone.
The senatorial primary election of the APC did not hold in
Adamawa Central senatorial zone as it was announced before the Monday election
that it had been postponed.
