Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 elections.
The announcement was made via a statement posted on Kwankwaso’s official page. According to the statement, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna was also selected to contest the Kano Central Senatorial District seat under the NDC platform.
“This decision was made in the spirit of equity, fairness, loyalty, and competence values that remain central to our party and Kwankwasiyya’s progress and unity,” the statement read.
Kwankwaso prayed for a peaceful and successful affirmation exercise and expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.
The move comes as Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya movement continue to consolidate their structure within the NDC following his recent political realignment.
Gwarzo, a longtime ally and former Deputy Governor, is seen as a core loyalist within the movement.
