Kwankwaso Tackles Baba-Ahmed Over Alleged Demand for PRP Presidential Ticket

Former Kano State Governor and NNPP leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed claims by Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) National Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, that he and Peter Obi demanded the party’s presidential ticket as a condition for joining ahead of the 2027 elections.

Baba-Ahmed had claimed in a Hausa political programme on DITV Kaduna that Obi and Kwankwaso approached the PRP for collaboration but insisted on being handed the presidential ticket without primary opposition.

He said the PRP rejected the demand, insisting they must first join the party and follow its internal democratic processes.

The PRP chairman said the two politicians also requested a significant number of party positions for their supporters, but were told to formally join the party first before such discussions.

Reacting swiftly, the Kwankwasiyya Movement described Baba-Ahmed’s statement as baseless and an attempt to seek attention.

Spokesperson of the movement, Habeeb Saleh Mohammed, said he was not aware of any formal meeting or agreement where Kwankwaso or Obi demanded the presidential ticket.

“I’m not actually aware of any official sitting among my principal, Peter Obi and the PRP as a party where my principal or Peter Obi directly requested a ticket,” Mohammed stated.

He added that Baba-Ahmed’s claim appeared to be an effort to attract attention, especially following recent political developments involving the PRP.

Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have since moved to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to pursue their political ambitions for 2027.
