Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed willingness to serve as the running mate to Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme, Kwankwaso said he would gladly work with the former Anambra State Governor if chosen by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
“I’d be happy to serve as Obi’s running mate,” he declared.Kwankwaso revealed that he and Peter Obi have already agreed to jointly confront Nigeria’s security challenges.“
Both of us, my humble self and Peter Obi, have agreed to tackle the issue of insecurity head-on to ensure there is peace and stability in this country,” he said.
When directly asked if he would accept the position of vice-presidential candidate should Obi emerge as the party’s presidential candidate, Kwankwaso responded affirmatively.
“If the party decides that I should be the running mate of any candidate from the south under the circumstances, I’d be happy to work together with him,” he stated.
He added: “Personally, I cannot remember any better combination, no matter how much time is given to find those who can beat us in terms of doing the right thing for this country.”
Kwankwaso and Obi had earlier this month joined the NDC after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The development points to a potential formidable opposition alliance between the two influential politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
