Senator Garba Maidoki, representing Kebbi South, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) just days before the party’s senatorial primary election.
In a resignation letter dated May 14, 2026, addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Rafin Zuru Ward, Zuru Local Government Area, Maidoki announced his withdrawal from the party, citing ongoing internal crises that have complicated his political future.
“I am writing to inform you of the withdrawal of my membership from the All Progressives Congress, APC, Rafin Zuru Ward,” the letter stated.
“My decision is based on the lingering internal crises of the APC that has made my political aspirations a source of concern.”
The senator expressed gratitude to the APC for the opportunity to serve under its platform. He currently chairs the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance and serves as vice-chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation.
The APC is scheduled to hold its senatorial primary on May 18, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Maidoki’s exit adds to the growing list of internal challenges facing the ruling party in Kebbi State and comes at a critical time as preparations for the next election cycle intensify.
