Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has signed the nomination form for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid in the 2027 general elections, describing the action as a “beautiful birthday gift.”
Kalu, who turned 55 on May 5, 2026, performed the symbolic endorsement on Tuesday alongside Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In a statement posted on his X handle on Wednesday, the lawmaker representing Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State said: “Yesterday, I had the rare privilege of endorsing and signing the nomination form of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, presented by the Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Hon. James Faleke, alongside the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.”
“This was indeed a beautiful birthday gift, to have had the opportunity of reaffirming my support and commitment to the continuity of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda as we look ahead to the 2027 elections,” he added.
Kalu reiterated his resolve to work with the President, stating: “We remain resolute in our pledge to work with Mr. President in delivering transformative reforms that will advance our nation’s development and improve the lives of our people.”
The signing comes shortly after Minister of Works, David Umahi, also endorsed Tinubu’s nomination form, describing it as a “victory form” aimed at sustaining national development.
James Faleke, founder of the Tinubu Support Groups, had obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of the President after the process was declared open by the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu. The forms, valued at N100 million, formally signal the commencement of Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027.
