Members of the All Progressives Congress who emerged victorious in the Kaduna State House of Assembly primaries have pledged renewed commitment to development, unity, and effective representation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The member representing Zonkwa Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Kantiok, who secured 549 votes to defeat Jothsm Ayina and Lawrence Bakam, described his emergence as an endorsement of his performance and a renewed mandate to deliver more dividends of democracy.
Speaking shortly after the exercise on Wednesday, Kantiok thanked God, party leaders, and constituents for their continued support, promising to consolidate on his achievements if re-elected.
He said his legislative responsibilities had extended beyond lawmaking, noting that he had facilitated several developmental projects across the education and health sectors.
“As Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary for eight years, virtually all bills passed by the Assembly went through my committee. Beyond legislative duties, we have facilitated projects in education, healthcare, and other sectors,” he said.
Kantiok listed interventions including classroom construction and renovation, provision of staff rooms, toilets, fencing, and furniture in schools across Kamantan, Madakiya, Anfana, Ikulu, and other communities.
He added that he facilitated upgrades of primary healthcare centres across the five wards of the constituency, alongside scholarship and empowerment programmes for students and small business owners.
On security, the lawmaker said the Assembly had continued collaborating with relevant agencies to strengthen safety across Kaduna State, assuring constituents of more development-focused representation if returned to office.
Similarly, the member representing Zango Constituency, Hon. Sam Kambai, who polled 414 votes to defeat Elizabeth Barnabas, thanked APC members for the confidence reposed in him.
He described his victory as a call to do more, pledging continued lobbying for projects and stronger representation.
“I want to sincerely thank the APC family and my constituents for giving me another opportunity to continue serving,” he said.
Kambai disclosed that he sponsored a bill seeking the establishment of a College of Agriculture Technology, which has passed second reading and is awaiting gubernatorial assent.
He further said he had facilitated road construction projects, including a one-kilometre road in Tanji, as well as renovation of several primary schools in collaboration with the Kaduna State Government.
According to him, LEA Primary Schools in Takau and Kamasa have benefited from interventions, while additional schools are awaiting approval for renovation.
The lawmaker also called for unity among party members, revealing that he had initiated reconciliation efforts with his co-contestant to strengthen APC cohesion ahead of future elections.
“We must unite and move forward together for the benefit of our people,” he said.
Kambai expressed optimism about the APC’s chances in future elections, citing improved security and ongoing development efforts under President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.
Also speaking, the member representing Jema’a Constituency, Ali Kalat, thanked stakeholders and party members following his emergence as the APC consensus candidate.
Kalat said the decision of other aspirants to support his candidature reflected confidence in his performance and leadership style.
“I believe my colleagues and supporters felt that returning to the Assembly is not just about occupying a seat, but about attracting more dividends of democracy to our people,” he said.
He explained that some aspirants considered his legislative experience and understanding of parliamentary processes as reasons for supporting continuity.
The lawmaker assured party faithful and constituents that he would sustain an open-door policy anchored on inclusiveness and consultation.
“I have always maintained an open-door policy, and going forward, we will continue to carry everyone along. I deeply appreciate the support and confidence they have shown in me,” he stated.
Speaking on the forthcoming elections, Kalat expressed confidence in the APC’s electoral prospects, noting that the party now enjoys broader political alignment across the zone.
He also highlighted projects facilitated during his tenure and pledged to intensify efforts toward attracting more development initiatives, particularly road construction projects within the constituency.
“One of the projects I will continue to pursue is the road construction initiative. I will keep lobbying and working with relevant authorities to ensure that such projects are completed for the benefit of our people,” he added.
Meanwhile, former aspirant for the Zango/Jaba Federal Constituency seat, Sylvester Anthony, popularly known as Brando, described the primaries as peaceful, transparent, and well organised.
He commended party members for their conduct, saying the exercise demonstrated unity within the APC.
“As you can see, the primaries went very well. People are happy and smiling, and everyone conducted themselves peacefully,” he said.
Brando added that the outcome of the exercise had further strengthened the party ahead of the general elections, expressing optimism that the APC would record greater success in future polls.
