A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to join the NDC or be ready to take the blame if the opposition fails to unseat the APC in 2027.
Galadima made the strong appeal on Monday while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He recalled that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had moved to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a bid to unify the opposition against President Bola Tinubu, but alleged that the APC and the government used the courts to destabilise that arrangement.
“The truth of the matter is that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso migrated into the ADC; they brought unity of opposition to unseat Tinubu.
Unfortunately, there are insinuations that the APC and the government used the courts to unseat the opposition,” Galadima said.
He continued: “This is why I’m making this call on former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to follow us as we followed him into the ADC, such that there will be unity of opposition to unseat this government, and if he refuses, Atiku will be held responsible.”
Galadima emphasised that all major opposition figures are now aligning with the NDC and urged Atiku to join them to rebuild a formidable coalition.
He warned that failure to do so could lead to another fractured opposition and Atiku being blamed for the inability to dislodge the ruling party.
