The All Progressives Congress in Benue State has commended President Bola Tinubu for initiating the peace and reconciliation meeting held in Makurdi last Sunday.
The state APC Chairman, Benjamin Omale, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Makurdi, described the meeting as a significant step towards fostering unity and strengthening the party in the state.
He said, “I thank President Bola Tinubu for initiating the reconciliation meeting. This singular act shows how Mr President values and loves Benue State and its people.”
Omale pledged the loyalty of the Benue APC to the President, saying, “We assure the President of our total commitment and loyalty always. Benue is all for you.”
He also commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for his role in promoting unity within the party.
“The governor’s unwavering support, commitment to unity, and leadership in the party have continued to bring growth and strength across the state,” he said.
Omale further praised the governor for providing an enabling environment for the reconciliation meeting and aligning with the President’s vision for the transformation of the state.
The peace and reconciliation meeting was held at the New Banquet Hall of the Government House, Makurdi, on Sunday.
The meeting was convened to reconcile differences between the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and Governor Hyacinth Alia.
However, the two leaders reportedly differed on the issue of automatic tickets for elective positions ahead of the forthcoming primaries.
Omale said that the National Vice Chairman for the North-Central zone, Alhaji Mu’azu Rijau, expressed satisfaction that the meeting had resolved its internal differences and emerged more united.

On the issue of automatic tickets for State and National Assembly members, Rijau clarified that the party would adhere to established guidelines.
“Principally, based on party directives and the provisions of the Electoral Act, the mode of primaries should be either consensus or direct. Initially, we have decided to adopt direct primaries in Benue State, and that has been the decision,” he said.
