A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, has publicly expressed regret over his involvement in the ongoing internal crisis plaguing the opposition party, claiming his life is now at risk due to escalating tensions.
In a statement that has added fresh drama to the party’s leadership turmoil, Bala admitted he did not foresee the severe consequences of the political disagreements that have rocked the ADC in recent weeks.
“I regret my role in the ADC crises. I did not know it would reach this level. My life is in danger,” he was quoted as saying.
The ADC has been embroiled in deep divisions, with rival factions trading accusations of sabotage, imposition of leadership, and anti-party activities.
The crisis has intensified ahead of future elections, as different groups vie for control of the party structure.
Bala’s latest outburst comes amid reports of his earlier claims of being tricked into events related to a leadership transition involving figures like Senator David Mark.
Details of the specific threats against him remain unclear, but his statement has heightened concerns about the toxic atmosphere within the party.
