Afrobeats superstar Davido has taken a major political role, emerging as Chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Council to spearhead the re-election campaign of Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Governor Adeleke announced the appointment on Wednesday, describing his nephew as a powerful youth mobiliser whose massive influence will significantly boost grassroots support across the state.
He highlighted that his administration’s youth-centric policies perfectly align with Davido’s appeal among young people, positioning the singer’s involvement as a major strategic boost for the campaign.
Davido, who has paused his music career for two months to focus fully on the assignment, said his decision is driven by conviction rather than mere family loyalty.
“I’m here not just because he’s family, but because he’s doing a good job and still has more to achieve,” the award-winning artist declared.
He stressed the importance of aggressive youth mobilisation, urging members of the campaign council to intensify door-to-door outreach in all local government areas to showcase the governor’s achievements and future plans.
“Take the message to the people. Show them what has been done and what is coming next,” Davido charged the team.
