Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has cut the ex-depot (gantry) price of diesel by N200 per litre, bringing relief to marketers and consumers amid fresh shipments arriving for independent importers.
The refinery reduced the price from N1,800 per litre to N1,600 per litre effective Wednesday, according to Platts, a leading global provider of energy and commodities market information.
The latest price adjustment comes as several vessels carrying diesel imported by independent petroleum marketers have arrived at Nigerian ports, increasing supply and exerting downward pressure on prices.
Industry stakeholders say the reduction by Africa’s largest single-train refinery is expected to influence market prices further, especially as Dangote continues to ramp up production and supply to the domestic market.
This marks another significant price cut by the refinery in recent weeks, following earlier reductions in diesel and other refined products as it strives to meet local demand and reduce reliance on imports.
