Bida Rejects Plateau APC Guber Primaries Result, Seeks Probe

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, retired Commodore Yilchini Jan Bida, has rejected the outcome of the party’s governorship primary election, describing the exercise as unfair while calling for full investigation.

Bida made his position known in a statement issued in Jos on Saturday after what he described as wide consultations with members of his campaign team, legal advisers, agents, and stakeholders across the 17 local government areas of the state.

He said he completely rejected the outcome of the election and the process that produced it.

“I state clearly and unequivocally that I reject in totality the declared results and the flawed process from which they emerged,” he said.

The retired naval officer alleged that the primary was full of irregularities, lack of transparency, and exclusion of his agents from key parts of the process.

According to him, although his agents arrived early at the APC state secretariat, no election activities took place there for hours.

He further claimed that the exercise was later moved to a hotel, where electoral materials were allegedly shared without the presence of his representatives.

Bida also said that in several areas across the state, party members waited at designated centres but no voting took place because officials and materials never arrived.

He added that he was also affected directly.

“I travelled to my ward in Nemel, Kanke Local Government Area, to cast my vote but I was completely disenfranchised as no materials or officials showed up,” he said.

The aspirant questioned the credibility of the results, describing them as unrealistic.

He argued that the voting pattern across the state looked too uniform to be genuine, suggesting possible manipulation of figures.

Bida called for an independent review of the results using statistical tools to verify their authenticity.

He also accused the party of shutting out his team during collation and declaration of results, contrary to expected electoral procedures.

Bida urged the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to step in and investigate the conduct of the primary to protect the integrity of the party’s internal democracy.

While calling on his supporters to remain calm, he said he would pursue legal and constitutional steps to seek redress.

Meanwhile, the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer, Fidelis Mnyim, had declared Caleb Muftwang the Winner.
