The lawmaker representing Ekeremor Constituency One, Hon. Tare Porri, has dramatically withdrawn from the APC Bayelsa State House of Assembly primary contest.
Porri, who was seeking the party’s ticket for a return to the Assembly, announced his decision during a press briefing in what he described as a move taken after extensive consultations with stakeholders and his immediate family.
The withdrawal comes as a last-minute twist, leaving the race wide open just hours before delegates are expected to vote.
Despite stepping down, the lawmaker showered praise on the party leadership for ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Dr. Peter Akpe, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and APC Chairman Warman Ogoriba, vowing to work collectively to secure victory for all candidates emerging from the primaries.
“I remain committed to my legislative duties and to the party,” Porri said, appealing to his supporters to stay calm and dedicated.
He assured his constituents that he would continue to serve them until the very end of his tenure.
