Bauchi Governor reshuffles cabinet amid resignations

Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has approved the redeployment commissioners and the assignment of State Executive Council (SEC) members to oversee key ministries and offices following recent resignations from his cabinet.


The directive was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.


The development comes after the Chief of Staff, Government House, Hassan Gamawa, and six commissioners stepped down from their positions to pursue their political ambitions.


To address the resulting vacancies, the governor ordered the immediate deployment and reassignment of some cabinet members to supervise the affected ministries and offices pending the appointment of substantive replacements.


According to the directive, Hashimu Yakubu, Principal Private Secretary (PPS), will supervise the Office of the Chief of Staff, Government House, while Dr. Mohammed Lawal R/Zayam has been deployed to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.


The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub (SAN), will oversee the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Usman Shehu, has been assigned to supervise the Ministry of Water Resources.


Similarly, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Rt. Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule, will oversee the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties.


Also, Amina Muhammad Katagum, Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, has been assigned to supervise the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, while Mohammed Sadiq Shira, Commissioner for Cooperatives and SMEs, will oversee the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.


Similarly, the Chief Security Adviser to the Governor, DIG Sani Mohammed (rtd.), has been directed to supervise the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.


Governor Mohammed, while wishing the outgoing officials well in their future endeavours, urged the newly assigned members to take full responsibility for their roles and deploy their experience in ensuring effective administration.


He further directed them to work closely with the respective Permanent Secretaries in managing the affairs of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
